Edward founded Hyde Park Partners in 2019, prior to which he had more than 20 years of investment banking experience based in London, broking Australian Equities throughout this period.
Edward commenced his broking career on the Australian equities sales desk at Deutsche Bank in London where he spent 11 years. He subsequently joined Citibank where he ended up managing their top tiered Australian Equities Sales desk. Edward joined Credit Suisse in 2010 to run their Australian Equities Distribution and became Managing Director of Asia Pacific Equities Distribution for the UK and Europe. In this role, Edward worked with various Credit Suisse International Equities teams, gaining a deep understanding of the market and forming strong relationships with a broad range of Institutional investors. Under Edward’s management, Credit Suisse’s market share grew and was ranked No 1 in revenue share amongst UK and European institutions.
Throughout his extensive career, Edward originated and managed hundreds of Non-Deal Roadshows in the UK & Europe, establishing lasting relationships with the Institutional Investment community, Investor Relations Officers and their C-Suite management.
Edward founded Hyde Park Partners to address the challenges being experienced by listed Corporates in accessing UK and European Institutional Investors. These challenges have resulted from regulatory changes arising from the introduction of MiFID II in 2018 and significant structural changes which have lead to the downsizing and “juniorisation” of the sell side brokers.
Alex brings 25-years of experience in Australian Equity Markets in Research and Sales. Alex commenced his career at DB in research, covering the Tech, Biotech & Healthcare sectors before moving to UBS to cover Healthcare, followed by a move to London in 2006 to join and then run the UBS offshore Australian sales desk.
Alex has spent his entire career analysing and promoting the investment merits of emerging and established Australian companies. In research, he initiated coverage for DB of both the then small-mid cap Australian Technology and Healthcare sectors. As research lead analyst and then desk lead, he has worked on bringing offshore investors into investment grade companies from IPO to the longest listed stocks on the ASX. Over 17 years of showcasing listed and unlisted C-Suite teams throughout the UK and EMEA, his passion is to build corporate to investor relationships from introduction to substantial shareholding. With UBS being the dominant primary and secondary equity house in Australia for his time at the London helm, he brings not just a deep understanding of who the key active investors are but accurate knowledge of what kind of stock that each investor will and won’t own in sufficient size to improve a shareholder register.
Alex left UBS in 2023 to join Hyde Park Partners to address the hollowing out of Australian equity broking presence in London that has followed regulatory and market-driven advisory fee pressures. Australian companies warrant a focused and experienced team on the ground in London and Hyde Park Partners is unapparelled in providing the access and advice to drive offshore investor engagement.
Philip "Scoop" Beard brings more than 30 years of experience in Australian investment banking and broking in the London market. Philip had an early career in economic and financial journalism which saw him posted to London as the European correspondent for the Australian Financial Review. He then moved into broking, spending more than 17 years at County Natwest Australia (UK) which merged with Citibank and was part of their top rated London based Australian Equities sales team and was made a Managing Director.
In 2008 Philip helped open the London office of Southern Cross Equities Australia, a boutique Australian broking and advisory business which was subsequently acquired by Bell Potter Australia. Philip spent a total of eleven years running Southern Cross/Bells Potter, specialising in small and mid-cap emerging and growth companies. He is widely credited for working in partnership with a number of listed companies and building a meaningful UK Institutional Investor presence on their register.
Recognising the challenges being faced by many listed corporates in accessing relevant Institutional Investors as a result of the implementation of MiFID II regulations, Philip left Bell Potter in February 2019 to work with former Citibank colleague Edward Delany at Hyde Park Partners to provide tailored and targeted corporate access and advice.
